Weekly Report Of Stock Market : An Overview


Performance Of NSE BSE For The Week:-
Let us look at the overall performance of stock bourses for the week. It was robust performance for the markets this week and both benchmark indices Sensex & Nifty and all sectoral indices closed positive. Broader markets outperformed largecaps and sectorally, auto and realty provided the biggest boost to the markets. 
Their weekly performance is as follows:-
  • Sensex was up 3%
  • Nifty was up 3%
  • CNX Midcap index was up 4%
  • BSE Smallcap index was up 4.5%
  • BSE Auto up 6%
  • BSE Realty up 7%
  • BSE Metal up 3.2% 
  • BSE IT up 2.6%  
  • BSE Bankex up 2%.

Performance Of NSE BSE For Yesterday:-
The domestic bourses ended the session on a flat to negative note, marking an end to the eight straight sessions of gains.The markets consolidated yestersday and closed flat. Largecap stocks took the backstage  and midcap and smallcap performed quite well. Banking and IT were under selling pressure but realty was the star performer.
The market breadth was positive with advances at 1044 against declines of 274 on the NSE. Both the Nifty and Sensex traded on a volatile note throughout the session and moved across the baseline, finally closing with moderate losses.The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 19,562.55 and intraday low of 19,382.35.   
  • The Sensex closed at 19426 (provisional), down 19 points from its previous close.
  • The Nifty closed at 5828 (provisional), down 6 points.
  • The CNX Midcap index was up 1.1% 
  • The BSE Smallcapindex was up 2.3%.
 
During the morning trade, the Asian exchanges traded lower for the first time in three days.Soon after opening in the positive region, the broader indices started trading volatile and plunged below the unchanged zone. Selling pressure emerged among the Banking, Oil&Gas and IT space, whereas the Realty, Metal and Power traded strong. As the day progressed the volatility rose and the benchmarks were seen trading in a tight range across the baseline. Finally, the market ended in the negative terrain with moderate losses.

  • Banking declining by 0.83%
  • Oil&Gas declining by  0.59%
  • IT declining by  0.47% 
Major gainers of the session  
  • Realty gained 2.60%
  • Metal gained 1.15% .

  • Reliance Communications Ltd (Rs. 111.65, 3.67%), 
  • Jaiprakash Associates Ltd (Rs. 95.30, 3.03%), 
  • Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Rs. 2113.85, 2.57%), 
  • Hindalco Industries Ltd (Rs. 213.70, 2.42%)
  • Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (Rs. 710.10, 1.65%)

The top losers of the BSE Sensex  were:-
  • NTPC Ltd (Rs. 188.90, 2.12%), 
  • State Bank of India (Rs. 2719.50, 1.75%), 
  • Reliance Industries Ltd (Rs. 1035.30, 1.19%),
  • Tata Power Company Ltd (Rs. 1315.10, 1.15%) 
  • ICICI Bank Ltd (Rs. 1102.70, 0.90%)
